This community is located in southeast Detroit, about one-third the size of Detroit. The city covers about two square miles (5.7 square kilometers) and is surrounded by the lake. The area was once a summer home for wealthy Detroiters. Famous industrialists from Michigan built massive estates in the area. The Packard Motor Company founder, Russell A. In 1825-1833, the first St. Paul’s Catholic church was built on the Crucifix’s site.
