Upper and Lower Eyelift Surgery
As the old adage goes, your eyes are the windows to your soul. They’re highly expressive and a large part of our communication with others. However, as time goes by, the eyes are among the first facial features to show signs of stress and age. A bright youthful appearance might be replaced by puffiness, sagging skin or wrinkles – all which cause you too look older and more tired than you actually are. Blepharoplasty at Lakeshore Facial Plastic Surgery in Michigan aims to restore a natural, youthful appearance to the eyes through Upper and Lower Eyelid Surgery.
Your Blepharoplasty Consultation with Dr. Fozo
When evaluating a patient for eyelid surgery, we always check for adequate tear formation, visual disturbances and for proper brow position. Patients with dry eyes should be very cautious when considering eyelid surgery. Please be sure to tell Dr. Fozo if you suffer from this.
A condition called brow ptosis (droop) can cause the upper eyelids to appear saggy. Attempts to correct this problem with eyelid surgery alone will not address the problem, and Dr. Fozo may recommend a browlift.
Dr. Fozo’s double board certification in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology allow him to offer added expertise for surgery of the face and neck, so you can feel confident you are in excellent hands. Dr. Fozo takes the extra time to make sure your results are perfect for you and leave you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. Most importantly, your Eyelid Surgery will look so natural no one will be the wiser.
Before you leave your appointment we will ensure all of your questions are answered, discuss costs and review potential surgery dates. You will also receive pre- and post-operative instructions on how to prepare for your Blepharoplasty and how to properly care for your eyes once you are home.
What to Expect
Dr. Fozo hides upper eyelid surgery incisions in the major lid crease. The lower lids are addressed by hiding an incision on the inner lid surface or just below the eyelashes. Occasionally a chemical peel is suggested in conjunction with lower lid surgery in order to tighten the skin.
In addition to smoothing skin and reducing puffiness around the eyes, Upper Blepharoplasty is often used to treat visual impairment due to significant upper eyelid sagging.
After your Eyelid Surgery, you may feel a tightness and soreness around your eyelids. Bruising and swelling are typically minimal and you can return to work within a few days. However, physical activity should not be resumed for two to three weeks. Dr. Fozo and his team will review this and other pre- and post-operative instructions during your consultation. We are also available by phone to answers any questions that may arise between your follow up appointments.
